Walker airlifted from Helvellyn after falling 30ft from Striding Edge |

A walker was airlifted to hospital from Helvellyn after suffering serious leg injuries when he fell from Striding Edge.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said the operation to treat the man and evacuate him from the mountain was technical and difficult

Runner Carol Morgan attempts complete round of Wainwrights |

Hot on the heels of American runner John Kelly’s record-breaking round of the Wainwright fells comes another attempt to complete the route, this time by Irish athlete Carol Morgan.
Morgan began her challenge at 6am on Sunday, leaving the Moot Hall in Keswick with her eye on Kelly’s successful round, which ended on Saturday

Rescuers were called out twice in two days to aid groups attempting the Coast to Coast Walk who got into difficulties on the Lake District fells.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 9.15pm on Monday when three women in their 60s were reported overdue in arriving at their accommodation at Patterdale youth hostel

Organisers of a ‘luxury’ ultrarunning event in Scotland have been widely criticised for marking parts of the course with yellow paint.
Lucy Wallace, Ramblers Scotland president and an Arran-based Mountain Leader and member of Arran Mountain Rescue Team, discovered the waymarks on the Goatfell massif on the island.
